Water

Water is one of the elements in ancient Greek philosophy, in the Asian Indian system Panchamahabhuta, and in the Chinese cosmological and physiological system Wu Xing. For me it represents a palette of cold colors which can produce quite dramatic paintings such as in the Pacific Series below as well as more dreamlike one such as in the Lake Washington Series. The water element is very dominant in my Seattle Period.

Seattle Period – Pacific Series

Since moving to Seattle in 2011, I have elaborated more on the water element. Guess why? The colors have moved away from the red tones that were so prominent during my Vienna Period (such as in the “On fire” series) and more toward blue, yellow, and purple colors. My work in the water element here can be split into three categories : Pacific, Lake Washington and Wetlands.
